CERT program is inactive in Racine at this time, funding is needed.
Note we do have trained members through out the community: When Active The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program, provided by the Volunteer Center of Racine County, Inc., educates individuals and businesses in disaster preparedness by teaching the basics of first-aid, triage, fire-suppression, light search-and-rescue, cribbing, disaster psychology and team organization. The training is free and provided by current and former police, firefighting, EMT and military professionals. It is available to all ages. In the event of an emergency, CERT-trained volunteers can assist their family, friends, neighbors and co-workers if professional responders are not immediately available. If you are interested in becoming a CERT member, please contact
Michelle Ortwein at 262-886-9612 or email@example.com.
Red Cross Needs CERT Trained Disaster Action Team Members ASAP!
Red Cross volunteers needed in the areas of Disaster Action Team members, Fire Surveyors, and Caseworkers. If interested contact Alex Lombard by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
The worst time of year for house fires starts with the first cold snap of the year (that is already here) and goes until the end of February. DAT members assist with handing out blankets, food, etc at the scene of fires around the county and the Red Cross would like DAT members to have CERT training for safety reasons (remember, you will be on the scene of fires assisting victims) and they are already in need for the winter!
