From Volunteer Center of Racine County
The Volunteer Center of Racine County serves youth throughout the county in a variety of ways, through various groups, organizations and nonprofit agencies. Volunteers are sought from all segments of the youth population; to serve a broad spectrum of needs. Those who benefit from youth services are encouraged to also volunteer, so they can experience the power community service has in making a profound difference in the lives of others.
Youth Leadership Program (YLP)
This school based program focuses on assisting middle school students with the transition from middle school or high school. This program meets once a week for 10 weeks during school or after school hours. YLP members learn effective leadership skills, positive steps to resolving conflict, decision-making and teamwork. The program culminates with youth led community service project.

YVCA Summer Camps
2010 Summer Camps are Scheduled! : The Volunteer Center of Racine County, Inc. is offering our 7th Annual Youth Volunteer Corps of America (YVCA) Summer Camps, beginning in June 2010. These FREE summer camps are for youth between the ages of 11 -18. We have listed the camps for planning purposes.
Racine County Food Drive (June 21-June25) 2000- DeKoven Avenue, Unit #2 Racine, WI 53403 Come to the Racine County Food Drive and give a helping hand. Learn about how food is distributed, sorted, and grown.

Lincoln Lutheran(June 28-July 2) Bay Pointe at the Atrium 3950 N. Main St. Racine, WI 53402 Connect with seniors through inter-generational service learning.

Eco Justice (July 6-July 9) 7133 Michna Road Racine, WI 53404 Learn about an environmentally-friendly farm. Learn about composting, recycling, and the cycles of life.

- Spend a day in nature
Emergency Preparedness Training (July 12-July 16) Location: to be announced later Program educates educates and trains youth about disaster preparedness for hazards. It trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Lakeside Curative Services (July 19 –July 23) 2503 Lincolnwood Court Racine, WI 53403 Learn to work with people with “different abilities.” Give a helping hand to those that need it.

Texting without a Phone (August 2-August 6) Location: to be announced later Use HAM radios to transmit messages any where in the world. Find out how the 911 center functions. Understand how technology functions through radio broadcast.

Youth Summer Camp Schedule : Summer Camp Flyer
Plan for 2010: All camps are Monday – Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. for youth ages 11 to 18.
You must provide your own transportation to and from camps. Permission slip are required and available by contacting Matthew Paeth, Youth Coordinator at the Volunteer Center of Racine via e-mail mpaeth@volunteercenterofracine.org or by clicking on the below link.
