Matthew is our new Youth Coordinator. Matt is a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He got his start in volunteering during his first year in college. Matt joined the Center of Volunteerism and Student Leadership after doing his first volunteer project at the boys and girls club. The (CVSL)’s purpose was to foster an ethic of service and leadership within the UW-Milwaukee campus. Matt then moved on to resident halls where he started his two year Resident Assistant career.

Matt’s position as a Resident Assistant required him to program with first year students. There he learned to program for many different aspects of community living. He handled students’ emotional, physical, and social issues. Matt also worked to spread the contagiousness of volunteering. He did my piggyback programs that involved helping the youth of inner city Milwaukee. After his two years Matt became the Program Specialist for the University Housing Complex.

The Program Specialist position allowed him to create many different activates which educated students around campus. He also worked on creating different volunteer opportunities for those who lived in the Residence Hall. Matt worked with the CVSL and Boys and Girls of Milwaukee to create the Lil’ Sibs’ program, which involved college students helping Milwaukee Public School students with their homework. Matt’s goal is to increase the number of youth volunteers and to have more students at the Summer Camp.
