From Volunteer Center of Racine County
Bruce Davis has joined the Volunteer Center of Racine County as RSVP Director. Bruce is originally from Vermont and has lived in the Racine area since his discharge from the U.S. Army in 1973. Bruce’s wife, Cathy, works in the International Commercial Division of In-Sinkerator and his son, Tyler, is enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Diploma program at Case High School where he is a senior.Bruce was a financial adviser for over thirty years , including twenty years at Robert W. Baird & Co. He has a BA from the University of Vermont in Speech (Mass Communication). Bruce also worked in Milwaukee and Chicago radio and television while in the service and early in his career. While in the Army, he edited the post newspaper at Ft. Sheridan, IL.
Bruce retired six years ago, but has kept busy doing freelance projects. He also has an interest in writing and continues to write essays and opinion pieces. He has a continuing dialog with some of his former college professors.
Bruce served as a Board member and Treasurer of the 21st Century Preparatory School. He is a Midwest alumni representative for the University of Vermont (UVM) and organizes fairs to coordinate admissions information in the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor. Currently he is in the initial stages of introducing UVM to Case High School guidance counselors and students.
Bruce feels the RSVP Director position is a mutually complementary fit. He is looking forward to meeting with 55+ volunteers who are interested in extending their expertise and experience to their fellow residents in Racine County
